National Car Company (NCC), the sole distributor for Hyundai vehicles in Qatar, has officially launched the all-new Tucson SUV at a well-attended event in the Landmark Mall.
“The new Tucson is bound to set a new standard in the compact SUV class in Qatar as it is well equipped with best in class performance, safety , comfort and convenience features while offering affordable pricing,” NCC president director Sheikh Ahmad bin Nasser al-Thani said.
Jin (James) Kim, vice-president and head of Hyundai Motor Company Africa and Middle East, expressed confidence that the all-new Tucson provides everything that car buyers in the class look for.
“It represents a bold new step forward in the history of Tucson, bringing premium levels of quality, technology and style to the customers.”
Offering a bold and athletic design, new technological features and class-leading driving performance, the new model has been designed to set new standards for its sector and provide an enticing alternative that ticks all the boxes for young families looking for a highly versatile car.
The third generation Tucson is available in GL or GLS trim levels. The previous model was the company’s third biggest-seller across the region and the volume leader in the compact SUV segment in 2014.
Available with 10 exterior colour options featuring two entirely new variants, the model’s sharp lines exude sophistication, from the signature hexagonal grille and sleek headlamps at the front, along the dynamic side profile with its expressive ‘Z’ character-line and ‘square-shaped’ wheel arches, to the distinctive rear lamps and wide, sporty bumper at the rear.
The equally stylish and refined interior benefits from the careful attention paid by designers to the ergonomics and use of high quality and soft-touch materials along with passenger power seats offering excellent lumbar support. Additional cabin features include a newly designed dashboard featuring an 8” display and extended super vision cluster and new door trims for a sportier feel.
For the first time on a Hyundai SUV, the all-new Tucson introduces a Blind Spot Detection system that monitors the side and rear of the vehicle for approaching vehicles. Smart entry and engine start, an electric parking brake, automatic cruise control and a next-generation navigation system are among the features.
The all-new Tucson has been designed to be one of the safest cars in its class, as reflected by the 5-star rating it has received in both the European and North American NCAP crash tests. The model can be specified with hi-tech features such as a parking assist, Electronic Parking Brake and Hill-start Assist Control.
Built on a completely new platform, the all-new Tucson delivers ride comfort without compromising driving dynamics. Every element of the chassis has been developed to ensure enhanced high-speed and cornering stability. Best-in-class aerodynamics and structural rigidity combine with an improved front and rear suspension and the integration of enhanced noise reduction techniques to establish the model as truly premium package.
There is a choice of NU 2.0 MPI or THETA 2.4 GDI petrol engines with a top speed of 182kph. All units are mated to 6-speed gearboxes, with both 2WD and 4WD models dependent on specification and market availability.
The luggage compartment is over 10% bigger than in its predecessor, while the larger dimensions deliver more headroom, shoulder room and front row legroom. Fans under the seat cushions pump out chilled air on models equipped with air-ventilated front seats, while rear air vents and a panoramic sunroof are also available.
